An attestation is evidence or proof of something. Real world examples of attestations are:

• Passport: Proof of citizenship
• College Degree: Proof of education
• Drivers License: Proof of being able to drive

In the world of web3, attestations can prove digital identity, ownership of digital assets, trust with a wallet or a primitive etc.
